Currency jealous: my money than you "more advanced" | The Economist

June 23, 2012 Print Version
Since January 2007, one Hong Kong dollars par value of RMB worthless. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Joseph Yam said that (this case) has an impact on the Hong Kong people in mainland China business travel and other activities. In an article published this month, Mr. Ren in describing some of the Hong Kong compatriots in HK lost the psychological feeling of yuan parity, the use of the wording of the "hopelessness". They are worried that mainland residents would underestimate the value of the currency of Hong Kong residents ". This is why Hong Kong re-consider the exchange rate policy to develop long-term pegged to the dollar, one of the reasons, Mr Yam argues.
Mr Yam also said that in most economists, this (the low value of national currency concerns) seems a bit odd. But ordinary people indeed currency worth its reputation enjoyed by hook. They believe that "if a unit A currency can be exchanged more units of B currency A currency than B currency 'more advanced'." Mr Yam is mentioned in the article. In that case, the conversion into national currency measurement, the price level in a foreign currency will shrink instead of doubling, will reduce rather than increase.
The world's most "advanced" the title of the currency of the Kuwaiti dinar, it's dollar exchange rate is 1:3.58. Prominent U.S. dollars, tied for 11 with Bermudian Dollar Bahamian Dollar and Panamanian Balboa. HK ranked outside of the form 60, not only came in after the RMB, less than Botswana Pula (African countries) and Bolivia (South America country) Boliviano. But feel sympathy for them before, please extend my apologies to the Vietnamese people. The abolition of the Zimbabwe dollar, the VND has become the world's smallest currency regardless of the Vietnamese went to where their currency must give change to someone else.
